Too many parties so little time!

As people are debating if EID is going to be Saturday or Sunday. I have a delima, I have few new years eve party invitations and all of them I want to attend.
My boss is throwing a party at her condo and she is making us sign waivers that whatever we see there stay there. And trust me I believe her party is going to be outrageous. Then, my friends and I had decided to go club hopping on new years then end the night at this awesome place downtown Columbus. In addition, I have a friend that would probably wants to celebrate new years together. I don't know where he wants to go yet. Last but not the least I sign up to spend new years with some business acquaintance and as of last night they are putting a lot of work to plan the party. Last weekend we promised ourselves to be out Fri, Sat & no doubt Sunday. If Eid is on Saturday then it will give some time for Sunday to juggle my time on Sunday. I just want to make sure that I am counting down the new year at a party not in the car trying to get to the next party.

Ocean City Maryland!

Last weekend I was in Ocean City. I went there with two family members and lots of friends. Yeah baby, another road trip. At least this time no turns driving. Since we had a large number we rented a tourist bus to take us. Which left us minds free, hands free and everything else you can imagine! 10 hours drive 11 hrs including stops
Played games, acted silly, slept, ate, watched movies, slept, ate, played games. This was the routing on our way there and back. Every once in a while I was kind of lost in my thoughts. But the guys laughing would bring me back to the crowd.
Ocean City was so beautiful. The city was almost deserted, well not almost it was deserted. A resident there told us that the city is packed during the summer months.
He said that there are probably about 7 to 8 thousands that are permanent resident. But in the summer the population rises to about 300 thousand or more. I kept teasing my cousin that I felt I was on one of those scary movies. Where the town is totally deserted. We kept each other company. Had lots of fun. Kind of like the town was only for us. Let me not forget the beach. The weather was over 65 degrees the whole time we were there not bad for a December month. Since Ohio has been under 40 degrees.
Overall the trip was a definite success. We got exactly what we wanted from the trip.
I'll probably go back. But I'll wait til the end of the summer next year so that there are just enough people but not too many.

Was lost but now found

The most amazing thing happened this weekend. My mom found her long lost sister.
They havent' seen each other in almost 15 years. My mom actually tought she didn't have anymore family left. The reason being that she is from East Africa and my dad is from West africa. We lived in Senegal for the past 6 years before we came to the united states. To make a long story short. Upon moving to West africa my mom lost contact with her family. Just couple weeks ago we were talking about her family. Well, my family too. I always wanted to know about my maternal side of the family but I never got the chance. The last time I saw my grand mother I was only 2 years old. I don't even remember. My mom only tells me stories of our visit there. I wish I could remember thought. She died 9 years ago and I never got a chance to really meet and know her. Her father past away when she was younger. Back to good news.
Mom has been excited out of her mind these day. She barely sleeps. I bid her good night at almost 1 or 2 in the morning and she stays up until 3 or 4 am sometimes so she can talk to her sister and her niece. Due to the time difference.
I am excited for her too. I mean I always wondered but somehow I just got used to knowing my dad's side of the family. Which is really really big. More like 3 villages into one. She was so worried that they wouldn't be able to understand each other. My mom forgot how to speak Swahili & another local dialect which they used to comunicate in. But, she couldn't wait for the morning to come so she can call my new found Aunt. Don't worry. They can communicate in a different language that they all understand.
She is already planning a trip this coming year so they can see eachoter again.
Life is so crazy. Last month I didn't even know that my family was about to biggy size.
I am also glad that the guilt trip my mom used to put on me is no longer valid.
This is what she used to say when she got upset " I can't beleive you did or acted or said what you said. You and your siblings are the only people that I have in this world. And you would do such thing." (plus shake her head) That sentence used to get me every time. I don't think it's going to work anymore. :)
